Explore the world of property management through Property Management 101, a five-day course taught over five weeks. This dynamic course combines classroom-style learning, interaction with industry professionals, and behind-the-scenes tours of metro-Atlanta buildings. It is designed for assistant property and facility managers and others who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the industry.

Classes held at different locations throughout Atlanta and the locations emailed to students in advance of each course.

  • February 16 - Real Estate Administration
    Learn from real-life scenarios and gain a deep understanding of the diverse responsibilities of property managers; such as service requirements; rules and regulations; tenant relations and retention; ownership and third party management; leasing and marketing; ethics; and more.

  • February 23 - The Well-Versed Real Estate Manager
    Participate in a behind-the-scenes tour of a local building, discussing the mechanics that keep it operational. Specifically, participants will learn about mechanical and electrical systems; plumbing; elevators; fire and life safety; the building envelope; preventative maintenance; and more.
  • March 2 - Building Operations I
    Gain an understanding of work order systems, services offered to customers, the construction process, and architectural services. The day's discussion will cover work order flow charts; submetering of utilities and overtime HVAC; locks and keys; labor charges; security and janitorial issues; construction; and more.

  • March 9 - Building Operations II
    Explore the financial side of property management. Topics throughout the day will include budgeting; accounting systems; accounts receivable and payable; general ledger; variance reports; real estate taxes; calculating rental rates; owner's equity; and more.

  • March 16 - Putting It All Together
    Understand the various types of service providers that are needed to enable a property to run smoothly. Specifically, the discussion will include a review of standard contracts; insurance requirements and COI; janitorial, security, parking, landscaping, trash removal and recycling services. Additionally, they will gain a greater understanding of BOMA Georgia and its benefits to real estate professionals


The Georgia Real Estate Commission has approved this course for 24 hours of Continuing Education Units.
